Clinton was at Boys Nation on July 24, 1963, when a photographer documented the baby-faced future president shaking hands with Kennedy in the White House Rose Garden. The image resurfaced as Clinton made his run for the presidency in 1992 and he was presented with a copy of the photograph during his first summer at the White House.

In announcing the exhibit opening of "Clinton Meets Kennedy," the 42nd president recalls that he "muscled his way" to the foreground to make sure he had an opportunity to meet Kennedy. Clinton told the Boys Nation gathering this year that he hoped graduates would be inspired to give back to their communities.

"I hope that whatever you choose to do in your lives, whatever career you choose, that your week in Boys Nation will inspire the same desire to give back to your community, your country and the people all over the world ..." the ex-president said. "The opportunity to serve, to advance the cause of freedom and to empower people everywhere to make the most of their God-given skills is greater than it has ever been."
